Objects In Anus During Sex?

Alice:

I recently posted the question about the finger in the anus. I'd first of all like to thank you for your answer. It was, as usual, helpful. I think this web site is fantastic and incredibly healthy for everyone. Maybe, with the help of things like this, we'll actually get to the point someday when people can ask about things like this without having to need anonymity.

Anyhow, the reason I'm writing again is that I would like a little more info. Are there OTHER medical risks associated with anal penetration? What if the object is larger than a finger? Should penetration occur only so far?

Dear Experimenting,

Hooray for the idea of openly talking about sexuality!! Forget the future, start now -- with your partners and friends.

As to your questions, the anus can be stimulated with fingers, tongue, penis, or any slender object. It is a highly sensitive area for many people. Your body will tell you when something is in too far, and then you need to tell your partner. Objects may be sucked up into the rectum past the sphincter. So, hold on tight. The anus is less elastic than the vagina, so ask your partner to be gentle. Make sure objects are inserted slowly, the person receiving is relaxed, and use a lube. Lube is especially important since the anus is not self-lubricating. Since moving objects from one person's anus to another's vagina or anus can cause infections, wash the penis, finger, or object first before inserting. Men inserting their penis into someone's anus can use a condom with extra lube. Rimming, or using your tongue to stimulate another's anus, is made safer by using a dam or an opened-up rectangular piece of nonlubed condom, kissing and licking through the thin latex.

Some people have said that they like having something in their anus during sex, with no pressure or movement, just presence. Other folks are really turned on by objects -- a finger, penis, or dildo -- moving in a rhythmic motion in their anus (they like the sensations deep inside). Whatever you like, have fun and be safe.
