Friends to partners possible? [Reader Responses]

Alice,

Thanks for posting that friends to partners letter. I'm a college student and I've found that good friends that I have healthy relationships with beforehand really do make the best partners. You have the benefit that you already know each other, and if one of you says, "No, I don't really see you like that," it's easier to handle because you already know each other. My boyfriend and I asked each other out on three different occasions before one of us finally said yes. Also, if you're in a relationship with a friend/partner, it is more likely that if you break up, you will remain friends. There is always a chance that you won't, but I've stayed friends with most of my ex's. And then sometimes you figure out that your friends were meant to be your friends, not your partners.
